DapprWombat / Ashaun Jackson

For 5 years now I have been one of Ashaun’s players and he has been the only GM that I will ever play with. Ashaun’s attention to detail & creativity have always been nothing short of astounding. As someone who teaches kids, I see that innovation & wonder that he gives whether it’s storytelling, world building or character development/creation. I think Ashaun represents what a true master of gamesmanship should be & treats his players as individuals first, and for me that is the most valuable asset you can have when working with kids; is getting to know them first because then, they are more likely to be engaged in what they do! Like myself they will want to continue playing TTRPGS.

Really gets you into the story with his immersive descriptions and voices. I feel like I am inside a book when he is the DM.

I am a rather reserved, shy person when meeting new people but Ashaun was welcoming and understanding — as a GM (to say nothing of as a person) this is an important tool, I think, to facilitate a space where one can feel comfortable enough to relax and be one’s self, and, in doing so, become immersed in the world being presented to them.

Speaking of being immersed in the game’s world; I have to say (loudly and proudly) that Ashaune is an Amazing storytelling and worldbuilder. His world feels *alive* and *rich* and *full* — cities have citizens, who have personalities. Likes, Dislikes, Favorites, Predujices — each NPC is a Realized Person in this case, allowing Ashaun to apply his masterful acting skills to bring them to life while we PCs interact with them.

His world’s history is no less full. Every town has a story, every Nation political goings-on… perhaps in the background if that sort of thing is not the focus… but it’s there.

I’ve no doubt he could write amazing novels if he put his mind to it, because his games feel like an award-winning interactive story.

Ashau taught me how to play d&d and he also ran my first long campaign. and while i have played with other DM i think he has the most patiences and care it takes to not only teacher new players but also craft a good game for veteran players. He has even taking the time to help me become a DM and even though im still learning hes always there with great advice.

I had never played D&D before and Ashaun worked with me very well and helped without taking over to a point where I felt like I didn’t learn how to play. I now love D&D
